Gilsenan (née Fyffe, formerly Freeman) - The funeral of Mrs Joan Margaret Gilsenan of Paynesville, will leave Our Chapel, 613 Main Street, Bairnsdale, after a service commencing at 1.00pm on Monday (Dec. 8), 2025, for the Paynesville Lawn Cemetery. Joan’s funeral service will be streamed here. Gilsenan (née Fyffe, formerly Freeman) - Joan Margaret. Passed away peacefully on 19th November 2025, aged 87. Cherished and adored wife of 45 years to Ross Gilsenan. Loving mother to Julie and Wayne (dec), Robert and Emily, Terry and Heather and Murray (dec), stepmother to Mandy and Peter. Doting grandmother to Justin, Sharna, Ashlee, Chloe, Kane and Darcy. Cherished great-grandmother to 12 and one great-great-grandson. Heartfelt thanks to the beautiful staff at Bupa who showed Joan immense care and dignity. In loving memory of a remarkable woman, who adored her husband deeply and found endless joy in the company of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had a lifelong love of books and shared that passion by reading countless stories to the little ones in her life, creating a sense of magic they’ll always remember. She was also a skilled quilter, crafting beautiful quilts and cushions over the years. And with her love of language and knowledge along with her belief in everyone’s potential, she encouraged those around her to succeed in life in any way she could and did what she could to support this.
