My grandfather Honess Baggs and his work collegue and friend Ray Hanson were travelling back
to Bairnsdale from a funeral in Glen Wills. It was 1950 and the hearse they were driving broke a
front spring at Tambo Crossing, locking the front wheel. The hearse skidded to a stop right at the
edge of the road, then tumbled down into the Tambo River. Luckily neither of the men were
seriously injured. The hearse was a 1935 Hudson 8.
